Accessibility
Last updated: October 6, 2026
This statement explains how accessible Dr Blender is, what we've done to make it usable for everyone, where we still fall short, and how to get help.
1. Our commitment
We want everyone to be able to identify music with Dr Blender, including people who use screen readers, keyboards, magnification or other assistive technology. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
2. Conformance status
Dr Blender is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. Most of the site meets the standard, and the known gaps are listed below. We last reviewed the site on October 6, 2026, using our own testing (code review, keyboard testing and contrast measurement), not an external audit.
3. What we've done
- Pages use proper headings, landmarks and a logical reading order.
- Form fields, buttons and icon-only controls have accessible names.
- Everything, including the MP3 upload area and the mobile menu, can be used with a keyboard. Hidden menus are removed from the Tab order.
- Body and secondary text meet the AA contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1.
- Animations are reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
- The layout adapts to small screens and browser zoom.
- An accessibility menu (the button in the bottom-left corner) lets you change text size, contrast, colour saturation, line spacing and fonts, highlight links, hide images, stop animations and enlarge the cursor. It runs entirely in your browser, remembers your choices in your browser's storage, and doesn't track you.
- Scan progress and errors are shown as text, not only with colour or animation, and are announced to screen readers.
4. Known limitations
- Brand-red text: some small labels in our brand red (#CC0033) have a contrast ratio of about 3.5:1, below the 4.5:1 AA target. We're reviewing these.
- Third-party content: album artwork, Google sign-in, PayPal checkout and Spotify are provided by those services, and we can't fully control their accessibility.
- Track results: artwork images come from music catalogues and have no description beyond the track name.
If any of these stop you from using the service, contact us and we'll help directly.
5. Compatibility
Dr Blender is designed for current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, with their built-in screen readers (VoiceOver, TalkBack, Narrator) and NVDA. It needs JavaScript to be enabled.
6. Feedback and help
If you hit a barrier, or need any page or result in a different format, email and tell us the page and what happened. We aim to reply within 5 business days, and to fix confirmed barriers as soon as we can.
